Today I wanted to talk a little bit about developing a relationship with our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is just a few beginner steps to starting a relationship with Him!! I will talk about the steps briefly so that you all will get a just and explanation to begin the steps. There are four beginner steps to starting a much-needed relationship with Jesus Christ: Salvation, Prayer, Reading the Bible, Fellowship.
- Salvation. This is the most important step. The first thing you have to do is accept the gift of Salvation from our Lord Jesus Christ. When you accept Salvation, you are simply just accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. The Bible says in Romans 10:9 – If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved.”. This just means that you accept Salvation from Jesus Christ and you are willing to be led by him, letting him take total control of your life. Accepting Salvation will start the union between Jesus and You!
- Prayer. A powerful tool. I can’t began to start telling you all how important and NECESSARY the step of Prayer is in getting closer to Jesus and staying close to Jesus!! Prayer is such an effective tool because He listens to prayers and He ALWAYS answers. Praying will change some things around, bring breakthroughs, and so more. Steve Harvey once said on the Pastor Donnie McClurkin show Praise the Lord!, “There’s no way you can talk to God everyday and nothing don’t change….. If nothing don’t change then something wrong.” I started to think about it and realized he’s right!! There’s no way you can pray everyday about your situation or anything and nothing don’t change!! So I want to encourage you all to start praying to Jesus everyday. Even if it’s once a day for two or three minutes just taking time out the day to say, “Thank You, Jesus. I notice everything you do and I’m grateful”. I encourage you to start praying because it will bring you closer to Jesus and also help your situation whatever it may be. Because when Praises go up, Blessings come down!! Amen.
- Reading the Bible. Reading the Bible is important because it’s nothing like reading, understanding, and knowing what’s in the Bible for yourself. It will bring encouragement, let you know how to live as God wants you to live, and bring you closer to Him by knowing and doing what it says. So I want to encourage you all to start reading the Bible everyday, even if it’s a few verses. If you don’t know where to start or need some ideas on what to read, there’s a Jesus page on Facebook that post Scriptures everyday to read. The Scripture is posted under Notes on the side of the page. Or you can just Sstart at Matthew, or the Beginning of the Bible, or where ever God lead you to read. If you have a problem reading KJV, ask God to help you to understand what you are reading. He will help you out. Or if you have the money, the Holy Bible Today’s English Version is a good version. READ, READ, READ, and Learn and Enjoy!!
- Fellowship. Last but not least, fellowship is important, also. Finding a good church home and finding a couple of real Christian friend is great with also developing that relationship with Jesus. Not only do you learn His Word, you build relationships with people who can help you led better Christ-like life. Hearing their stories and sharing yours is always empowering because you learn that you’re not alone and others know how you feel and believe and fight for the same things you are fighting for. So I encourage finding and attaining church more regularly and meeting Christ-like friends. It is great for your relationship with Jesus.
